Childbirth Education – HypnoBirthing
As a Doula serving mothers-to-be in Wilkes Barre, Scranton, and surrounding areas, I’ve witnessed the incredible and awe-inspiring power of women giving birth, and each time it’s truly remarkable. Every family I’ve supported has their own unique birth story, and every time I reflect on those stories I’m reminded of the key to creating a supportive, nurturing, and empowering pregnancy and birth experience: education.
Childbirth education and labor classes can help you and your loved ones navigate the transformative experience and complexities of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum life, empowering you to embrace the present while preparing for the future.
The Happy Mama Place Childbirth Education
Many birthing classes are limited to your time spent in the hospital, going over procedures and the purely clinical side of birth. At The Happy Mama Place, we recognize that pregnancy, labor and birth are so much more than that. Our goal is to help you mentally, physically, and emotionally prepare for labor and delivery using proven practices such as surge breathing and birth breathing.
My experience brings together the comprehensive training gained through Childbirth International (CBI), an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accredited birth and lactation training organization, and HypnoBirthing® International, a world-renowned organization focused on empowering women to have the peaceful and beautiful birth they deserve.
Today, HypnoBirthing® is a cornerstone of The Happy Mama Place childbirth education mantra. For far too long, women have been trained to be fearful of childbirth, assuming pain and agony are the defining characteristics of the birthing process. HypnoBirthing® and the Mongan Method dispel that myth and offer a revolutionary approach to birthing that empowers women to not just get through it but confidently and peacefully harness the natural power of the female body.
When you enroll in a group or private childbirth education session in Wilkes Barre, Scranton, and the surrounding area, you’ll receive:
- 5 x 2.5-hour classes with a Certified Doula to help you prepare for a positive birthing experience incorporating the Mongan Method.
- Phone, text, and email support from the beginning of class until six weeks postpartum.
- HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method book by Marie F. Mongan, M.Ed., M.Hy

It’s time to liberate yourself from fear and embrace the transformative power of HypnoBirthing®. Experience a birth that is empowering, calm, and joyful.
What is HypnoBirthing®
At its core, HypnoBirthing® — The Mongan Method is a birthing philosophy built off the notion that healthy women can transcend the greatest myth of birth: that the very natural process of birth must be accompanied by agonizing pain, lengthy deliveries, and unnecessary and potentially harmful interventions.
Sentiments like those and the horror stories shared by family members, care providers, and strangers alike work against mothers-to-be, leaving them filled with stress and tension — two states that hinder the natural birthing process.
HypnoBirthing® is based on the incredible work of Marie F. Mongan, the Founder and Creator of the HypnoBirthing® Institue (1989). However, the fundamentals of this remarkable practice are rooted in the work of natural birthing pioneers Dr. Gregory White and Dr. Gantly Dick-Read.
Today, HypnoBirthing® is recognized as the Gold Standard of Childbirth Education. It’s practiced across the globe, helping mothers in 46 countries transcend the ill-conceived notions of what birth should be so they can experience the incredible journey that it really is.
Women and birthing companions who engage in HypnoBirthing® courses and practices can expect:
- Elevated trust in the female body, as they recognize their innate wisdom and strength.
- A deeper understanding of the birthing experience, rejecting fear-based myths and misinformation.
- A calm and gentle birth that will usher newborns into a peaceful existence, at one with their mother.
- A thoughtful and deliberate journey from pregnancy to parenthood for the mother and father, partner or companion.
A Note to Partners
You play a crucial role in the incredible journey of the mother-to-be and child. Welcoming a new life into the world is emotionally, mentally, and physically transformative for fathers and partners. HypnoBirthing® is for you, too.
We provide you with the tools and resources necessary to help the mother-to-be through the birthing process and become a source of love, confidence, and support throughout pregnancy, labor, and parenthood.
